Indonesia Education

                      The Indonesian education system recognizes two different paths t education: school education and out-of school education. Nowadays, Indonesian basically adopts a 6-3-3-4-school education system, which consist of 6 years of primary, 3 years of junior secondary, 3 years of senior secondary, and 4 years of tertiary ( college or university degree ) education. In 1994, Nine-Year Basic Education was declared universally with an ambitious target that all children age 7 to 15 years will get a basic primary and secondary school education. Senior secondary schooling consists of two streams: general and technical or vocational.
                      Regarding educational provision, student enrolments have increased dramatically in pas three decades. This is due to the educational policy, focusing on the provision of basic educational for all. As a result, the net enrolment ration primary schools jumped from 58% in 1969 to 95% in 1996. The gross enrolment ratio of junior secondary schools jumped from 17% in 1973 to 73% in 1997-98, while that of senior secondary schools jumped from 9% in 1973 to 39% in 1997-1998.
                      Secondary education reform effort in the 1990s can be largely classified in to three categories according to the main actors and funding agency. Besides Indonesian government, the World Bank and the ADB have also participated since 1990 in financing various projects with different funding scales. In the case of national reforms, the government has focused on the curriculum in order to improve education quality including curriculum decentralization, the second twenty-five Long-Term Development Plan, PJP ( 1994-2018) for the completion of the Nine-Year Universal Basic Education Program, the relevance of education to development and improving the capacity to master science and technology: The School Science Program in 1994,2000 and The Basic Technology Pilot Project.
